On the Taurus wagon we have at work, there is a sticker in the back
that talks about the impact switch and how to reset it. I haven't had
to, but one of the other guys hit a curb when it was icy and had to
reset it, so we know it works...

Are you sure about the impact type switch on Ford products ?
