Hi Dave,

Along the same lines as Chris. Weld is a very large company and makes alot of parts for the sprint car market. As they said, they don't make parts for your application so why do you guys keep comparing us to them. Its like saying that a Ferrari is to expensive because Toyota makes cars for less. I bet a piece of 2024 would be worth about $50. plus the rim shells and the machine time and assembly. I doubt anyone would machine a center for you for less than 60 or 70 dollars. So if you add your Weld wheel parts together at 2x54 plus 50 plus 60 plus time to build etc it works out to about 220 per wheel not including labor. Our retail for a 8" custom made to YOUR specs is only 268. I don't think that we are to far off. There is so little money in 10" wheels that its not worth even making them. Sorry, but that's the truth.

Chris and others,
I checked with Weld Racing today and they told me they have
nothing for our applications, some were close.
2 interesting things though, a 10 by 4 outer shell was $54 bucks
without beadlock. American aluminum must cost a lot less
than that Canadian stuff, surprising they can even afford to put
their beer in cans anymore! Anyway, Weld also has what they call a direct mount
wheel in 10 x 8 for about $85. I could be tempted to get one
and cut a center for it out of a piece of 2024 that I have. Would
be a pretty quick project with the rotary table on the mill.
Anybody have a clue as to the loads a mini sprinter puts on
wheels compared to a F500?
