Hey fellow 500ers, I decided recently to try my hand racing in the Spec Miata class at the Roebling National...What an experience! After practice and a fair qualifying time (for my first race), I thought I just might like it. Things drastically changed when it came race time! Apparently "racing room", "blocking", "metal to metal contact" are not really rules, but suggestions...Being in a friend's RENTAL, I drove an over-conservative race to protect my budget and found myself not having much fun-and falling way back. I thought about how fast and fun it would be on that new pavement in my old Shelbo car or one of the new Dolphin rides...OR ANY 500! Just because it has a "gear shifter" did NOT a race car it make (to me)... The roof and doors were strange too. I'm in the market for another 500. I trust the brainiac engineers, organizers and just plain GOOD PEOPLE of our group with it's future.
