I agree there is a lot of debating that is going no where, we need to all
discuss the serious ideas and possibilities and get them down on paper. we
also need to discuss the separation of the road racing rules vs. the
autocross group. what we have here are 2 totally seperate groups using the
same rules. So what we end up with is one group wanting changes and the
other group countering it! Its hard enough to get any changes as it is
without half of one group saying yes and the other half saying no, I think a
proposal needs to be put in to split this up. The rules changes we need to
allow our class to live has absolutely nothing to do with the autocross
circuit and they should have no input on the rules or equipment that we are
allowed to use, as such i could care less what they do in thier group. The
proposed wheel change a while back should have came into play, in the long
run it opens the door to a hell of a lot of choices for rims, rimstyles etc.
obviosly there are a lot of people with multiple sets of 10" rims but i
think most of the road racing class would like the bigger wheels, autocross
could be left at 10 " then we could all sell our spares to them :)
There are only a few things needing attention here, we should start
concentrating on what we need to get into the board. changes for less
maintenance and keeping the cost down.
I myself think the proposal should be worded something like this.
F500 series class engines shall be as follows:
Any 2 stroke 2 cylinder engine 500 cc's or lower is legal for competition
when assembled to fit the following specification. Aftermarket parts may be
used as long as they are designed to be direct factory replacements.
all engines may use any "Y" pipe, maximum length of assembly from factory
mounting surface shall not exceed 8 " spacers between the "Y" pipe and
cylinder are prohibited
all engines shall use a single chambered exhaust pipe with no restriction or
separators, Separator defined as anything added to inside of chamber to
simulate dual type tunable exhaust.
Maximum compression of any engine not to exceed 138 lbs (tested dynamically
throttle open.)
bore and stroke not to exceed a total area of 499cc
Polishing or re-shaping of any porting is prohibited , with exception to a
re-sleeved cylinder and engines under 449cc's as defined below
A. Re-sleeved cylinders may have the porting matched up as long as blend
marks do not protrude more than .30 into casting of cylinder and original
volume of port is not increased more than .1cc
B. Engines originally under 449cc from the factory may expand ports by x%
total volume from original to compensate for overbored cylinders. (measured
with fluid)
Induction systems:
air shall not be inducted into the engine at any point other than the inlet
of the carburators or fuel injection inlet housing.
Carburators : round or flat slide may be used
a. Bores not to exceed 38mm
b. No part of the body or slide can be modified or reshaped from original.
c. The use of air flow improvement devices of any kind are prohibited (with
exception to factory style air box)
d. powered air breathers are forbidden.
e. any carb adapter or boot is acceptable as long as maximum length does not
exceed 2", angled boots are acceptable to facilitate leveling of
carburators.
Electonic fuel injection:
May only be used with engine models that came stock from the factory with
it.
Bodies of air flow and fuel injection unit may not be modified in any way.
Ignition sytems: Unrestricted
This would allow a lot of engines into the class
some of you may be against the efi thing but i have rode several different
machines with efi and they are a bit laggy and unresponsive, i dont believe
that this will give anyone an advantage.

Subject: [F500] Reminder to Send Input to the CRB/BOD
Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2007 10:00:34 -0400
Hey, Guys,
Please send your input right now. All these postings are nice but the
CRB/BOD need to see the best positive ideas that we have come up with right
away. They are seriously looking at MC motors for our class so NOW is the
time.
Put up or Shut up --- Please.
Jim
