First: Take a look in the FCS and see if they are even legal in F500 (or on
any SCCA car for that matter)
After you do that, I doubt that you will care about reading further-but here
it goes anyway:
The answer to whether they are safe is: "it depends"
The strength is heavily material and process dependent-
So, with a really good recipe developed with lots of testing-a mfg can have
one good set of wheels.
Question is: "Can he make many sets of wheels where every single one has
adequate strength?"
That said, companies like Dymag have been making CF wheels for MC for years
and they do a huge business.
However, it took them quite a lot of R&D to concoct a wheel that met or
exceeded the metal ones in every regard. Big Big investment to get to
where they are today.
All CF wheels are NOT the same.

and inspection for voids is difficult.

I am friends with one of the salesman at Hyper and have played with the
wheels a little bit. Two major problems: they currently dont have our
bolt patterns in production and $1100 per set of wheels, no thanks! My
$120 set of used Douglas wheels work just fine.

With all of the wheel talk has anyone tried or have knowledge of the
Carbon
Fibre wheels offered by Hyper racing for use on 1000cc oval cars?
To all of the P.E.s out there, is this a safe experiment to try for a
900lb
car driver combo in F5?
Thanks in advance,
Steven Dodd
