A few weeks ago, I talked to one of the Kansas University FSAE guys at a local autocross. He said they run wet sump, stock pan with multiple drivers for 2 years. Then they tore down the engine and found some wear in the rod and main bearings. They replaced all of them and are still flogging the engine today. It is a CBR F4 Honda engine. He also told me that they wouldnt dare try that if they were road racing, but, due to the short duration of solo competition, they can get away with minimal oiling/lubrication. They are running the "non-turbo" rules for FSAE. It involves unlimited cams and compression, as I recall.
