Jay, you quoted George Dean-But You still failed to mention PIPE COST. You
didn't and won't because you know that this cost kills your Econo Friendly
600 argument. Check it out and publish it compared to an f500 pipe- I dare
you!
AND_If you are already shopping tuners, what does that say about keeping
them stock?
Jay, you state that mini Sprint guys dont have problems keeping things
legal. Have you been to one of these events? Cheating is everywhere.
Rebuild Sources-if your so convinced, please tell us names where we could
get new pistons, rings bearing valves etc for 1500. Where is the Labor cost
accounted for in your proposition?
Texas is huge but not so big that word doesn't travel when you try and
source parts for you last runoffs power delivery through a shop in Plano.
You know what I am talking about and most people here have cars that cost
less than any product of their product line. Your sought procurement had
Nothing to do with "intended" class rules. You also have played around with
the ceramic bearing ideas that would give you a several thousand dollar cost
increase and a several mile per hour advantage.
I find it amazing that you stated on the DSR board that you would be out of
F5 as soon as you sold your final two cars and that you would be moving
solely to DSR, yet you dwell in the land of us lowley two strokers. If M/C
power is where your heart is then go to DSR sir, please . Stick Brian in
that DSR you built with 1000cc and see how you fare against the other. You
may be drinking your own medicine then and getting spanked by Lee.
And I suggest that you dont suggest to the rest of us " let this play out to
see what happens." Most of us are not idle dwellers and are entitled to our
firery opinions.
We are just as passionate as you and we aren't trying to revive "Our" car
sales.

Chuck, I know you are opposed to this direction. I have also been
concerned
about costs but I am now convinced that there are multiple sources for
engines & rebuilds that are very much in line with the numbers I have
posted. I have found multiple sources that will do complete 600cc rebuilds
with all new pistons, rings, bearings & valves for $1500. This is
extremely
reasonable IMHO.
Additionally there are multiple mini sprint santioning bodies that have
bone
stock classes & they do not seem to have problems keeping things legal.
F1000 has a stock engine rule. I have spoken to George Dean who is one of
the most respected engine tuners in the business & he says that if you use
the stock ECU & aftermarket exhaust you can get an additional 5 hp on the
1000 & about 3 hp on the 600 engines. Much more hp is available with
significant engine modifications and aftermarket ECUs. These will not be
legal if the 600cc engines are ever approved.
I suggest that you let this play out to see what happens.
Thanks ... Jay Novak
