Chuck, Dont believe for a minute that the Honda engine has more power. Read a cycle mag comparo and you will see the "Big 4" Jap companies all steal technology from each other constantly. If one company come out with a new engine in '07 and it has 2 more hp than their competitors, for '08 they will all 4 have that technology. Also, if you read the record books, I believe you will see the 600 supersport class champions being very evenly split between the "big 4." Personally, I like the Kawasaki ZX engines, but I may be a little biased having Kawi power in my bike and my F440 8-) I think a really cool engine would be the Ninja 650. It has all of the 4 cyl tech stuffed into a parallel twin. But, I doubt it would be any cheaper and probably not as durable in our cars. It is somewhere in the 70hp range, but loads of torque in lower rpms than a 4 cylinder. Bill Schmidt 88 Rd Kawi
>>> "Chuck Voboril" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 04/15/07 11:06 AM >>> Replacement, not alternative is more like-there is at least a solid 14-17 HP increase in rear wheel HP with the Suzuki GSRX600(remap and pipe) over the best developed Rotaxes and pipes. More than that with the better Honda 600cc motor. The 600cc bike motors have very close ratios and will not be caught in a wrong gear in a corner very often. They shall walk away until they lap the F500's. F600 costs will indeed escalate because the combo will need shocks and more frame and suspension strength for the extra power and extra weight. The cars will go thru more 10" tires also. Routine maintencance is estimated at 2x the cost of freshening a Rotax. The therorectical lower intial coat will be long forgotten. I predict MC motors have not been thought through and it will be fad-just like the Zetecs saving FF2000. 5 years from now people may wish they could go back to their Rotax 2-strokes and CVT's. You should have found a cheap replacement Japanese 2-stroke, not a cheap 4-stroke. If you can't figure out clutching, perhaps a manual transmission 2-stroke, then, as a alternative Chuck ________________________________ FormulaCar Magazine - A Proud Supporter of Formula 500 The Official Publication of Junior Formula Car Racing Subscribe Today! www.formulacarmag.com or 519-624-2003 _________________________________ _______________________________________________ F500 mailing list - [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe or change options please visit: http://f500.org/mailman/listinfo/f500 *** Please, DO NOT send unsubscribe requests to the mailing list! ***
