Tony, Sounds like deja vu to me. When I first installed my 493 I could only get it to run on one cylinder. We checked everything...had spark so we played with the carbs but never found anything wrong. The next day we put the carbs back together and installed them....the motor ran fine! Never did figure out why but the problem has never reoccurred. From your description, I wouldn't be surprised if both cylinders fire after you install the muffler and rev the motor a bit. One quick test you can do is to swap spark plug wires. If you do and the same cylinder doesn't fire, you can almost be sure it's a fuel related problem. -Jeff B.
