auto x dosen't care about roll bar height or if it is welded together or not
but for road racing it would not be allowed.?Speeds in a auto x should not get
to a speed where a roll bar would have to substain a tremendous load.? In road
racing the worry is that the graft would break off or bend forwards or back
making the lower roll bar the true height of the roll bar.?I've only done a few
national auto x events in a 82 red devil with a grafted roll bar nothing was
ever said.? look to the gcr.

When I purchased my '85 Red Devil from a gentleman in the Washington DC Region
he had already raised the rollbar height utilizing a grafted on extension. I'm
not sure if it is legal or not, but he was running the car in the DC Region
with no problems and I've competed in several regions in Pennsylvania and New
Jersey, and no one has questioned the rollbar. I've never done a National event
though.?
