Schultzies Ramblings in no particular order. The first year turn out for the beautiful F500 Challenge Cup was honestly more then anticipated. A bigga Grazie to youz guys and gal for supporting the event. If it werent for prior plans for a few other drivers entries could have topped the 20 mark. We sincerely thank and recognize everyones time, energy, and resources that went into making the F500 Challenge Cup a very special, fun weekend.
>From an organizational and production standpoint we were really pleased how everything fell into place. Heres more good news, thanks to Rob Howden the event is green, green, green for 2008. With initial support and great enthusiasm from FormulaCar Magazines Rob Howden, along with Hoosier Tires Bruce Foss, Sunocos Bill Corwin, RHS Stainlesss Mike Samsel plus the cooperation from Finger Lakes Region RE Lew Geisy and his Staff, the Glen Motor Inn, and Lakewood Vineyards the event turned out to be really special happening for the F500 Class drivers and crews. Our initial concern was would the racers come and would the Regional/National driver mix work and it did. We had some good racing throughout the field. A bunch of people went home with well deserved awards. It was heartwarming to see the cooperation and helpfulness between competitors to keep every one in the race. Yes, the F500 drivers and crew members are a community that cares. The fall chill had no impact on brew-ski consumption during the Rudolph Brothers Saturday Social. Some really entertaining tails were passed around. If you werent there, we were probably talking about something you did way back when. You CenDiv and SEDiv guys better show up next year and dish the dirt on these NE guys!!!! Just meeting the face that went with the e-mail name was a blast. Then there was the good problem for the Finger Lakes Region. They needed to pay the WGI track rental fee rent and indeed they did with an amazing 300 plus entries. Unfortunately the big F500 turn out along with a monster FF, CFF, NFC turnout created problems for organizers and competitors. Something I was assured would be addressed before next years event. Considering we had no dress rehearsal for a real, post race, awards ceremony it turned out pretty good considering the awards MC needs to learn some good jokes, maybe throw in a song or two along with a soft shoe routine (I was never any good at magic tricks). Bottom line, I think for a first time event we ALL done real good. Were on to something big. With a tweak here and there we will really build exposure for the F500 class and have a good time doing it. Hea, we need your feedback and dont forget those sponsor thank yous. Thank you all again for supporting the event with your time, energy, and resources.
