Well for my body that kind of diet seems to work just fine. I eat milk products, tofu products, vegetables, nuts seeds, breads and fruit. Maybe a half dozen times a year I will eat some fish and on Thanksgiving I eat some turkey. I am a carpenter/contractor during the week, surf for three or four hours in the cold Pacific at least once a week, exercise with kettlebells two or three nights a week, run around the park with my dog every day after work and am 53 years old. After eating heavy high protein foods I feel like I can't move until some serious digestion has taking place. Everyones needs are different but for me at least a lacto-vegetarian diet is like rocket fuel. I would vote that lack of exercise is the biggest problem. Look at Maharishi, he appears to barely even be able to walk anymore. Although his face seems radiant his body strength seems to have ebbed from neglect. I don't think he could paddle out at Ocean Beach on a double overhead day but then again I don't imagine he really care's. Exercise, it's a stimulating experience. Helps with depression and is a good antidote for fatigue.
