It's important to point out that this does not mean subservience to 
various deities, rather, as MMY points out in his commentary on the 
Gita, it means that humans are gaining mastery over the forces of 
nature (the deities) -- see commentary on Gita, Ch.3, v.11 "This 
manner of offering actions to the gods does not imply surrender to 
them or coming under their subjugation"..."Yagya is a process of 
bringing the individual into harmony with the stream of evolution, 
which enjoys the favour of all the forces of nature engaged in the 
advancement of life, individual and cosmic."

So-called Christians (and I say so-called because they are Christians 
who can't move mountains because of their failure to live their 
birthright as powerful children of the all-powerful God) get all 
upset over this prospect of mastery over nature, but it no different 
than what Jesus said about true Christians: If you have faith even 
like a mustard seed (a very small seed), you can say to a mountain, 
move, and the mountain will move:
