My theory is that it was just a hissy fit thrown by an old man, and that people are trying to find some cosmic justification for the hissy fit because they have a fondness for the old man and would like to believe that their faith in him all these years was not misplaced. Hey, I have a lingering fondness for the guy, too, but I prefer to call a spade a spade, and a hissy fit a hissy fit. The bottom line of this particular hissy fit is, "the end justifies the means." I'm more Buddhist these days; the means are the end. Why you say you're doing some- thing doesn't matter; all that matters is what you do. This particular hissy fit is a way of saying that the people of an entire nation are not worthy of his compassion. But then, the price structure these days for TM is a way of saying that the people of the world are not worthy of his compassion. Just my opinion...
