Thanks for your reply. And I am not a TM teacher so that is a moot
point. I probably agree with more of what you said than is apparent.

However, do you really know what Maharishi's project plan is for the
enlightenment of the world? I don't. I say 'project plan' to
distiguish the actual mechanics from the objectives.

An example would be if my objective were to make sweet lemonade. One
of the steps on my project plan towards the fulfillment of my
objective would be to pick sour lemons, which when viewed by itself
would appear opposed to the final objective (sweet lemonade), unless
one had a full comprehension of the project plan.

I have long suspected that there is much going on behind the scenes
with Maharishi's true project plan, much as Judy Stein suggested in
a post that I believe you copied here. This actual project plan of
Maharishi's probably doesn't correlate very well to what is
reflected by the TM Movement, and Maharishi's outward decisions.

Am I happy with what I see going on in the world? Yes and no. No,
suffering appears to be continuing for an awfully lot of people. Of
course that is the appearance. And yes, I have seen a huge
improvement during my lifetime with regard to what people are able
to accept and enjoy in their lives; openness of ideas, advances in
technology, TM.

Do I believe in my heart of hearts that the nuclear holocaust is
imminent as your posting seemed to suggest? No, absolutely not. I do
believe the main reason that Maharishi made his presence known
through Guru Dev here on Earth is that we were irrevocably headed in
that direction. Now we are not.

Are my motives absolutely selfish with regard to what I want for
myself vs the world? Absolutely, though there is clearly a point
where the world as an expression of my consciousness merges with me
and the question appears absurd.

Should independent TM teachers make themselves and the programs they
were taught to propagate available out of compassion?
Hypothetically, yes. although it is their choice and I am not the
one to exhort them to do so. And if I were to exhort them to do so,
I would not use as my justification the possibility that we are
doomed by nuclear warfare if they don't. (Which was the point I was
trying to originally express to you...).

Thanks,

Jim
