yes, after being soul-starved for so long, the West was so very 
hungry for the knowledge that Maharishi brought. 

The fact that he DID bring a practical technique that worked 
magnitudes better, and instantly in many cases, than what was then 
commonly available, and in addition to him looking like a holy man 
from exotic India caused many to lose any objectivity towards 
Maharishi.

We overlooked his faults and made a big deal of his successes and 
partial successes. No wonder it went to his head. I am pretty sure I 
would've acted the same way had it been me instead of Maharishi. A 
good lesson learned to be sure.
