Trying to sum up a country as one simple mental state reveals a way of thinking that bores me. We are communicating on one of the many American creative contributions to the world. Our freedoms also protects your ability to express your anti American POV. As a huge country we have a lot of good and bad. There is no one "America" that can be summed up so simply. Good luck with that simplistic way of thinking.

Tell me where else in the world could a magic act perform for more people and have more financial support to make any creative dream a reality? Where should a non "ignorant American" aspire to perform a magic stage show? Name one place that pulls the same numbers. Performers with huge stage acts are not hippies. And despite his appearance neither was Doug, he was hugely ambitious. Playing for fewer people while getting paid less money is never a performer's goal. And having spent plenty of time with European and Asian performers, I know that this is not an "Amercian" POV. But I don't think you really know anything about performers or venues do you? I am all ears.
