Bingo! Also, there is an assumption some people
(mainly Westerners) make that I personally feel
is not warranted. Namely that because some people
can do non-everyday things and perform the occasional
siddhi that they're enlightened. Apples and oranges,
in my book. Siddhis are just a skill; I don't see
them as having a one-to-one relationship with any
state of consciousness but the one required to
perform the siddhi. Being able to levitate (true,
hanging-in-mid-air leviation for some time) or go
invisible or whatever says nothing about the person's
enlightenment, merely that they have mastered that
particular siddhi. Just my opinion, on the basis
of having seen a great number of siddhis performed.

Bingo: if you look at the Shearer translation of Patanjali sutras then
you see that there is a progression of sidhis or techniques that
ultimate lead to the final sidhi to be practiced sutra #52 which is,
>From sanyama on moments and their succession, the finest
discriminative knowledge is born. The prescribed result of this sidhi
and only this sidhi is sutra #55, And when the translucent intellect
is as pure as the Self, there is Enlightenment. All the other sidhis
were given to get you to that final point. The practice of the others
was to get this final one done. Amen.
