It's well known in history even at the time that this country was being founded that the elite did not like the "commoners" owning property. That remains true today. Furthermore I would propose they also hated in the late 20th century that cheap air travel made it possible for the "commoners" to see the world something that was once only their domain. Wasn't it convenient that 9-11 was done using airliners and thus putting a damper on such travel?
