I just wanted to chime in and agree with Rick
that I will, in fact, miss Lawson during this
hiatus. I think his contributions here lately
have been valuable and measured and largely
free from the overthetopness of the past. But
the bottom line is that Lawson was suckered
into an argument about elitism by the most
elitist person on this forum, and it obscured
his ability to keep track of the number of his
posts.

What, after all, could *possibly* be more
elitist than the person whose position, essen-
tially, is "I am right and you are *all* WRONG?"
What could *possibly* be more elitist than
saying (let alone believing) that "I am smart
and you are *all* REEEELLY REEEELLY STOOOPID?"

Speaking as someone who grew up in a military
family, I can support Lawson's statement about
McCain's upbringing as the progeny of Admirals.
There is little on planet Earth more elitist
and with clearer demarcation lines between the
elite and the non-elite than officer and enlist-
ed man, and the children of officers and the
children of enlisted men. Basically, there was
such a strong and tangible boundary line that
the kids of officers rarely even talked to the
kids of enlisted men.

But this argument that "took out" Lawson wasn't
about "elitism" as it appears in politics. It
was about the elitism of the truly insane, who
would rather score imaginary points in meaning-
less arguments than be a human being.

I've been diligently NOT reading anything that
this particular insane person (and her partner
in insanity) have written for the last two weeks,
but I have been reading Curtis' and Lawson's posts,
because they are NOT insane, and they both have
witty and insightful things to say. But occasion-
ally they both get caught up in Interfacing With
Insanity, and I can't help but see some of the
things that the two insane women are writing.
And it's scary.

It's scary because it's not about the issues
they claim it is. It's only about Borderline
Personality Disorder, and the constant need on
their part to set up confrontational situations
and "win" them in their minds. As far as I can
tell, neither of them cares a damn about any
of the things they claim to care about here.
The ONLY thing they care about is that this
latest issue has provided them with their latest
excuse to provoke arguments. And the only thing
that matters to them is the ability to *keep
arguing*.

If you think like them, *keeping arguing* IS
the only thing that matters. If no one will argue
with you, then how do you "prove" that you're
right and they're WRONG? If no one will argue
with you, how do you "prove" that you're smart
and they're REEEELLY REEEELLY STOOPID? If no
one will argue with you, how do you *demonstrate*
how very, very, very elite you really are?

Hint: If you don't bother to read these two
dried-up old bitches' posts, and you completely
ignore their equally dried-up bitchy attempts
to lure you into an argument, they're not very
elite at all, are they? They're just dried-up
old crones so lonely and so unhappy that the
only joy they derive from life is arguing,
flapping their gums in front of more sensible
people who are ignoring them completely.

When you come back, Lawson, I hope you learn
from this experience. Ignore their silly asses.
Let them live in their fantasy worlds all by
themselves. You've HEARD what they say here;
you KNOW what their biggest fear is. They say
it all the time, in slightly different words.

Their biggest fear is that no one hears them,
and that nothing they say matters.

Make it come true.
