Then John Kluge of Florida (Metromedia, ranked 30th in the US with 11 billion). Rupert Murdoch of NY (News Corp) #49 with 7.8 billion. Sergei Brin of Google comes in at #55 with Larry Page at the same rank. Donald Newhouse at 60 (publishing) and David Geffen in entertainment at #117., worth 4.4 billion. Preston Tisch of Loews comes in at 160 while steven Jobs of Apple is ranked at 194. George Lucas is at 194 worth a paltry 3 billion (that couldn't be right!). while Spielbert is at 219 worth 2.7 billion Haim Saban (TV) at 272, Amos Hostetter Jer (cable at 292, Craig McCaw of McCaw celluler at 306, and Stephen Wynn of Las Vegas fame is in casinos at 2.1 billion, rank 306. John Malone of Colorado (cable TV) is at 321 while Ted Turner is at 321 worth only 2 billion. Charles Dolar of NY is into cable TV at 1.9 billion, while 4 Hearst heirs are at 366. Mortimer Zuckerman of NY is at 413 (he's into media and real estate) One could mention about a dozen more. Martha Stewart is way down on the list.
The bottom line for the media moguls is given by Forbes: "39 billionaires in the US derive their fortunes from media.
