The mind always goes to a field of greater happiness. What's needed is a technique, a 'skill-in-action, to 'isolate' the Purusha. In Adwaita Vedanta, there is no duality, the prakriti is just an illusion, so the primary technique is to be aware of the non-duality, to be aware of being aware. So, according to the Maharishi, TM itself is NOT the cause of the enlightenment - the Purusha is already there.
