This is not even remotely true. Vajranatha was initially treated with respect by most of us, myself included, even though it was clear his intention for coming on alt.m.t was to belittle TM. The title of the thread he began as his first contribution, "Samyama does not lead to Cosmic Consciousness," made that obvious right from the start (even though it makes no sense in terms of TMers' understanding of the TM-Sidhis). The beginning of the thread is here if anyone wants to check it out: http://tinyurl.com/b5yyq > This unofficial "policy" has extended in the past to > sincere TMers who wander in and make the unpardonable > mistake of expressing appreciation for one of the > "marked men," or agreeing with them, or even asking > the kind of exasperated questions one hears here all > the time, such as, "Why does the TMO want to charge > me $2500 so that my child can get a 'walking mantra?'" This is also a figment of Barry's vivid imagination. The ironic thing about this fantasy of Barry's is that Barry himself had a great time dumping on Vaj almost at the very beginning of Vaj's participation on alt.m.t. Vaj assumed *he* was a fundamentalist TMer. > It's a real crying shame, and IMO this cult attitude > has done more over the years to turn off people to > the possible benefits of TM and meditation than all > of the critics combined. Barry has done his damndest on alt.m.t--and is now doing it here as well, with Vaj's assistance-- to try to portray just about *anything* TMers say as indicative of a "cult attitude" and declare that it should turn off people to the possible benefits of TM. alt.m.t is a mixed bag; it's very difficult to make any kind of accurate generalizations about it, and every person's experience of it is somewhat different. Moreover, it changes over time as people come and go and different topics come to the fore. The only way you can really get an idea of what it's like is to read the traffic for a while, or better yet, participate in some threads. The dynamic is quite different from what Barry and Vaj portray. To subscribe, send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/ and click 'Join This Group!'
