Thanks. So you are, broaadly speaking, correct that Rove's lawyer says
Fitzgerald told him that Rove is a subject -- along with everyone
else: "that virtually anyone whose conduct falls within the scope of
the investigation, including Rove, is considered a 'subject' of the
probe." But as the article states, 'On the other hand, Fitzgerald "has
indicated to us that he takes a very broad view of what a subject is.'"

So its pretty loosy goosy in my book. Its equivalent, IMO, to the
prosecutor saying he won't deny Rove is not a subject. But its not in
any way as definative as the proscutor saying, "yes Rove is one of 3
specific subjects of the investigation."

And doesn't definatively clarify if Rove is even prosecutable -- that
is, it does not establish that he had clearance for the Plame info.

>From the cited article:

Luskin also addressed the question of whether Rove is a "subject" of
the investigation. Luskin says Fitzgerald has told Rove he is not a
"target" of the investigation, but, according to Luskin, Fitzgerald
has also made it clear that virtually anyone whose conduct falls
within the scope of the investigation, including Rove, is considered a
"subject" of the probe. "'Target' is something we all understand, a
very alarming term," Luskin says. On the other hand, Fitzgerald "has
indicated to us that he takes a very broad view of what a subject is."
