Funny how any time a guru gets sick or dies, foul play is
inevitably suggested as the cause.
Here's a list of gurus off the top of my head which fit that category:
Osho (Rajneesh)
Swami Prubapada (Hari Krishna)
Guru Dev
Maharishi (the orange juice)
Tat Wala Baba (okay, this one's legit...someone shot the poor bastard)
Poisoning is still, strangely, rather common in India. I know of one
prominent guru who had several death attempts on his life. The Dalai
Lama actually has fatwahs out on his life, along with assassination
attempts. Actually right after his recognition (age of 2 or 3 IIRC),
the Chinese tried to hunt him down. A close high lama I know
personally was poisoned, but survived.
Maharishi seems to have died of natural causes, likely aided by his
diabetes and his love of sweets.
