They observe the Hindu tradition against eating Nandi. However as
westerners (well maybe some) beef cattle are not Nandi. My guru
actually told me not to eat beef about a month after he initiated me.
He also told me it would ruin my meditation. I didn't tell him that I
had eaten a cheeseburger since the initiation as well as some pasta with
a beef sauce. Neither effected my meditation at all. Maybe they would
as an East Indian usually doesn't have centuries of ancestors eating
beef. However just because of how careless the beef industry is I
decided it might be a good idea to stay away from beef to not get mad
cow disease.
