FWIW, I suspect what the guy had in mind was
"quasi-religious," but he couldn't come up with
the prefix when he was writing the article and
used "pseudo-" instead.

Or maybe he thought "quasi-" was too sophisticated
for his readers and picked what he thought was
closest to it that they *would* understand.

They're pretty interesting.  Some folks are
horrified, but a bunch of others are wondering
what the "scandal" is--beyond Scranton's having
a few weird ideas--and don't think it's going to
have much effect.
