Read the post to which I Replied. Someone was asking how they
could go about making a claim on lands their forebears had
inhabited many years ago.

They were asking, I assume, tongue in cheek. My answer was
quite serious. Anyone who thinks that God had more to do
with the initial Jewish invasion of the "Promised Land" than the
better weapons and strategy employed by the Jewish people
when they arrived is not thinking rationally.

They invaded a land that was already occupied and
quite productive and killed or enslaved pretty much everyone
there. Because "God gave it" to them? Come on... Because
they had the power and the will to take it away from those who
were there before them.

Many groups - including the Jews of Joshua's time, the Muslims
of our time, and the Americans of the 1700s and 1800s - have
used "God gave it to us" as an excuse for killing, raping and
enslaving. It's an unfortunate part of what people do, from
my point of view.
