"In the truest sense of the word," possibly. In
the original Aramaic, the term 'Satan' simply means
adversary. It started out as a term to describe
anyone who was caught in what they perceived as an
adversarial relationship.

The TB TMer is caught in an adversarial relationship
with their own ignorance and with the perceived ignor-
ance of the world. The more they fight "against* the
ignorance and resent it and feel sorry for themselves
for being unenlightened, the stronger the ignorance
becomes and the further away enlightenment is perceived
to be. The more they believe there is something they
can do to relieve the ignorance, the more there is to
be done. By prolonging the fight, they prolong their
ignorance, because a fight needs an adversary.

Compare and contrast to those on this forum who just
dropped the adversarial relationship with their own
ignorance. The moment they did, the ignorance was
revealed as non-existent. It just went poof!, as if
it had never existed. It never existed. No adver-
sarial relationship with it ever existed. The
ignorance they once fought against disappeared
like smoke the moment they stopped fighting it.
