Not enlightenment per se, but oddly enough, Richard Chamberlain has been in two films that involve a shot of satori. One is Peter Weir's "Last Wave," in which there's a wonderful initiation scene. The other is in the TV-movie "Shogun." Chamberlain's character has threatened to commit hara-kiri if the shogun doesn't do something or other (forget what). He's sitting there with the knife poised, ready to plunge it into his stomach, and at the very last second the shogun capitulates. Chamberlain's character puts the knife down and sits there for a moment with this very peculiar expression, then says something like, "How beautiful is the sound of the rain hitting the roof tiles." ------------------------ Yahoo!
