Couldn't stand the inner-circle politics - especially friction with Bevan -
and some of the weird things Maharishi was asking him to do, like renounce
his US citizenship in order to run for Prime Minister of India under the
Natural Law Party. He also took a lot of heat over some JAMA article. Wasn't
he being sued or something? And the TMO didn't stand by him.

Also, he obviously had a larger role to play that would have been stifled by
continued TMO participation.
