Aiee, no. The issue was whether Chopra would sue JAMA and the writer of the article. Two TMO-related organizations were already suing, weren't having much success, and wanted Chopra to join them, but wouldn't pay his legal fees, as I understand it. The article took aim at the TMO in general, but at Chopra in particular, accusing him of dishonesty in submitting his own article to JAMA on Maharishi Ayur-Veda without revealing his financial connections to the TMO (along with his co-authors, Triguna and another big TMO scientific cheese whose name I can't recall at the moment). It was purported to be an "expose" of the TMO's dirty doings but was in fact a carefully crafted tissue of fractional truths designed to convey an impression contrary to fact. It caused the TMO no end of grief. The writer didn't lie outright, so there wasn't much of a legal case against him, and the suit was eventually dismissed without prejudice. The writer got all kinds of awards for his great courage and dedication to the truth. (This was Andrew Skolnick, whom I mentioned in a different context in another post. Skolnick was a regular participant on alt.m.t some years back, and there's endless analysis of his article and the legal case in the archives if anyone is interested.
