Every aspect of this and related threads has reminded me of the tenet in the
Course in
Miracles that the relative ego feeds itself by attacking others. Of course men
objectify
women. We objectify everyone and everything. It's all meat for the ego's table.
You know how SCI sees creation in layers? In the Course, these are the layers,
from the
surface to the core:
- Nice guy, trying to get by, impinged upon by circumstances.
- Raging maniac angry at the world
- Scheming ego, looking for ways to attack without appearing
to have attacked.
- Guilty schlub who feels no one would have anything to do
with him or her if they knew what he or she was really like --
a greedy, possessive egomaniac.
- Christ consciousness
I may have missed a level before Christ consciousness, but you get the picture.
Some seems to be saying strip clubs invite only the surface behaviors. Others
are saying
Christ can operate in a strip club, no problem. That's what I'm taking away,
anyway -- I
know how people hate to have words put in their mouths. If I got it wrong,
though, forgive
me. I don't mean to attack you. Honest!
