Dr. PS, as I said, I've only seen Elephant Man and The Straight Story. Even from these two, I can tell that Lynch does not have a normal mind, whatever that is! I just read the plot summary of Eraserhead on rotten tomatoes. It does not sound like my favorite type of film (-: I have a long term gov friend who used to try to convince me to see Silence of the Lambs because he knew I'm into movies. Though I recognize that it's probably great cinema, it's really not my cup of tea. I can have a very visceral reaction to screen violence.
