Rory is quitting, Fairfield? I think you need to stop using that word, Buck. "Quitting" has a negative connotation and I think it sounds demeaning, as if he has failed in some way. That is a shame, that he is leaving and to lose him. Meditators; it's been a long time, it's been a sacrifice at times to have been here. You've came bravely, proudly. You're a special group. You've found in one another a bond that exists possibly only in banana-gram, among brothers. You've shared community, held each other in dire moments. You've seen friends in their death here and we have all suffered together at times to be here. I'm proud to have meditated with each and every one of you. When the Loma Prieta earthquake happened in October 1989, my dad saw the walls of the house shake for about a minute or so. Luckily, he was safe and the house was not damaged. At that time, I was still living in Seattle and was watching the World Series when the programming was interrupted due to the shaker. But I was in Seattle during the big earthquake over there in 2001 (I think that was the year, as I recall). I remember our office building was swaying back and forth and we were at the 32nd floor. I hid underneath my desk. Thankfully, our building did not sustain any damages, except for a few streaks if cracked paint in the emergency stair well.
