Nice. Thanks for the link. Reminds me of Emmylou Harris' version of the Townes Van Zandt song "Pancho and Lefty." Few songs manage to capture the *feel* of the West; this is definitely one. Interesting that it's by a Brit. Speaking of all this noble loner in the wilderness stuffe, if you don't know the Robert Redford film "Jeremiah Johnson," it is well worth your time. Redford plays the real-life title character, as an Easterner who travels to the West to become a trapper, knowing diddleysquat about how to survive there. Fortunately, he runs into an old trapper who becomes a kind of guru figure to him. The basic plot is that Johnson, to save some pioneers' lives, violates an Indian taboo and becomes a marked man. For many years afterwards, there was always one -- and, because he was big medicine, only one -- Indian assigned to stalk and kill him. No matter where he went, no matter what he did, there was always an Indian out there in the bushes waiting for the opportunity to kill him. After years of this, Johnson runs into his old mentor, and they share some beans around the campfire and the old man says to his former apprentice, "You've come far, pilgrim. Was it worth it, all the trouble?" Redford, in one of the most Zen moments ever captured on film, says, "What trouble?" One of my favorite moments in movies. ------------------------ Yahoo!
