<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalloid> in the carbon group
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_group>, chemically similar to its

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon>. Purified germanium is a
semiconductor <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semiconductor>, with an
appearance most similar to elemental silicon.
Germanium "metal" (isolated germanium) is used as a semiconductor
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semiconductor> in transistors
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transistor> and various other electronic
devices.
Presently, germanium's major end uses are in fibre-optic
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibre-optic> systems, infrared optics
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrared_vision> and in solar cell
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_cell> applications. Germanium
compounds are also used for polymerization
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymerization> catalysts and have most
recently found use in the production of nanowires
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanowire>.
Some complexed organic germanium compounds are being investigated as
possible pharmaceuticals, though none have yet proven successful.

Hi soundofsilence, my knee became wonky last winter. I discovered
something called PowerStrips, a patch containing ginseng,
phytoplankton, silver and something mysterious called germanium.
Anyway, you can google. They don't just mask symptoms. I've also used
them on my back and shoulders and ribcage. I'm convinced that they heal.

If you can find an authentic tantric guru and get a guru mantra from
them then you won't need to do so many repetitions to get mantra
siddhi. The guru mantra empowers all other mantras. My teacher often
explained that the tapas in many books were for the general public
and that is why they have to do so many repetitions: because they
haven't been initiated.

Like I mentioned, I only do one repetition. And if I wanted that
could extend for hours.
While I'd be happy if an authentic tantric guru was walking along a
common path, perhaps heading for a late evening swim, to tell you the
truth I'm in search for someone who can give me some suggestions
about a bit of a wonky knee and how to get it back to normal so I can
get back on the tennis court.
You're in Canada, right? Toronto? I know there is a tantric there.
But for a wonky knee I would see an ayurvedic practitioner for some ideas.
A few folks on FFL were interested in learning from my tantric guru
(who passed away in 2012) but they wanted a house call. IOW, not
enough to do a little traveling or organize a group to host him where
they lived.
I was willing to go back to India to learn but then he popped through
a friend who was also a TM teacher.
