Mantras are effective by virtue of the energy and intelligence imbued in them or associated with them. You tickle a Devata, the Devata tickles you back. Indians understand this, and I've heard Maharishi talk about it. He just emphasized the meaningless sound bit to make TM palatable in the West. ------------------------ Yahoo!
