My TTC was in France and the townsfolk even looked askance at us. But I had heard of that beforehand and wasn't surprised. However when some of us were moved to Biarritz we were welcomed with open arms since they also thrive on British tourists. I could also put away my funky French (even though I had 4 years of it including two in college).
