The chiropractors observations resonated with what was mentioned in the article. Did you not read the article?

I didn't make any of this up. It's well known information about mantras. Benson is a little wrong though but he was looking for a "relaxation" response. He apparently didn't go deep enough to test various sounds and see if they were more relaxing or if some sounds were stimulating. Probably because he never ventured into that area of yoga. Maharishi didn't teach us mantra shastra. I had to find that elsewhere.

Meditate on "banana" long enough and you'll turn into a fruit. :-D

It has already been established in studies done by Herbert Benson, M.D. that the relaxation response is not dependent on any particular word or "mantra". Any object can be used for meditation, a sound, phrase, or image or just being aware of being aware.

You can chant OM for decades and probably not reach enlightenment, or you could come to a realization in nano-second - under the right conditions./
