As for the level of characterization and the supposed levels of intelligence the characters are supposed to represent and appeal to, did you not get a hint from the fact that they killed off everyone over 21 in the first episode? THAT is the demographic they're writing for, and writing down to.

Check out the 25% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the only two reviews posted so far on the IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4132692/reviews I honestly think that Netflix decided to dole this series out week by week instead of a whole season at a time so that they could keep open the possibility of cancelling it after a couple of episodes if it develops no word of mouth.
