I, too, have a hard time seeing the techniques as religious. But there's been talk in this forum of the mantras being devas that the teacher charges with shakti before giving to the meditator. So here we have a funny situation. I've been using my mantra for 31 years, during which time I've received no hint that it is anything other than a meaningless sound. Yet people in the know tell me it is an ishta-deva -- "the god one prays most" (Wikipedia). Now, how do I convince someone that TM is not somehow religious? ------------------------ Yahoo!
