As I read what Michael is saying, he's using "you"
in the impersonal sense, i.e., "If one has no love
in one's life..."

Also, the "if" makes it conditional rather than a 
"declaration," even if he *did* mean "you" in a
personal sense.

So once again, we see your paranoia.
