It's based on Latin verbs, not English ones. It's better not to *unnecessarily* split infinitives (i.e., as I just did), but there are plenty of occasions when it makes no sense not to. and, I am expecting to see "throw the horse over the fence > some hay" any day now. N. That's Pennsylvania Dutch dialect, akin to the Yiddish- derived "Throw Mama from the train a kiss." But I agree with you--the state of written (and spoken) English is deteriorating rapidly.
