Yeah I could be full of it about generalizing about Buddhists.  I know
Thai people are Theravada which is a pretty old form.  It might also
be a function of the individual.  But I have gone to some temple
gatherings (for the food, materialist that I am) and I never got a
"join us" vibe.  They didn't seem to give a shit and seemed mildly
amused that I could hang with the chilies.

I have hung out with more South East Asians than Japanese.  I don't
know anything about their Buddhism except the zen stuff I used to read
when I was more interested in that aspect of the culture.  Now I just
study the cooking.

Here is DC there are so many communities of Asian cultures it is
facinating.  The word Asian is so worthless since the different
countries often hate each other's guts for good reasons.  Same with
Hispanic.  Such a worthless word in reality.  South Americans dispise
central Americans here.
