Tautology has at least three distinct meanings:


    * Tautology (logic), a statement true by virtue of its logical form.

    * Tautology (rhetoric), undesirable use of redundant language that

adds no information.

    * Truism, an assertion that is so obvious as to add nothing to a

discussion.
