Thanks so much, for your thoughtful response; And this topic does seem to have hit a nerve with the group. I would humbly disagree with your assessment, with how Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, will be remembered in the history of our time. First all the repetition of the name of God, is not an unusual spiritual practice. Rather, it is used in Judaism, as the name of God is: Elohim, and Adanoi, and the silent name, of Yahweh. In Christianity, the name for God, is either Jesus, or God the Father, or Holy Spirit. In Islam the name for God is Allah, and his representative on earth name being Mohammed. The name for God, in Hinduism; there are many names for God in Hinduism. In Buddhism, the God is a Transcendental God, and is called the state of Buddhahood. Now, the name of God, in the Mayan culture is Quezocatol. Other names of God in English, are Lord, Compassionate One, Redeemer, King, Healer, Master, and Blessed be. The second part of the idea, about being a false prophet, I think sounds more like what the Christians would say... I don't see Maharishi as being a prophet of any kind; I just see him as a teacher of enlightenment; The same as Socrates was in his time, in Greece. Socrates is not regarded as a false prophet; Because such a notion did not exist, I don't think, then; As I think that notion was invented by the Christian Church; As a way to control the masses. You just say, 'False Prophet', and that's the third rail... I think Maharishi will be remembered for exactly what he wishes to be remembered for. Bringing enlightenment to the world, giving the praise to his teacher, making inroads in the fields of preventative health, architecture, the connection between human consciousness, and the physical world, and the ability to transcend by use of a meaningless sound, called a Mantra, and the method of using the Mantra, which is called 'Effortlessness'; And for the interpretation of the Ancient Vedas in a form; Which can be studied, both theoretically, and experientially. and for the other advanced techniques in the development of consciousness, as well as the clear description of higher states of consciousness; Many things we take for granted now, in the year, 2006; When Maharishi, was bringing these ideas to the Western World, in the fifties, before many of us were, born. Not me though, born in '51.... > > > > > --- In [email protected], Robert Gimbel <babajii_99@> > wrote: > > > > I was just thinking, to myself? > > Was John Lennon right, when he wrote the line: > > > > "Maharishi... > > > > What have you done? > > You made a fool of everyone..." > > > > "We gave you everything, > > Just to sit at your table, > > And you turned out to be just like everyone? > > Maharishi, what have you done?" > > > > I love(d), Mr. Lennon, and his wonderful genius. > > I also love Maharishi, and his wonderful genius. > > > > R.
