But then how often are you running a black screen?  And again if you 
have turned off the lights in the room you may have just made a trade-off.

But TV manufacturers will want to keep selling TVs so they will make 
them more energy efficient.  There was a good article in the UK 
Independent on plasmas eating up energy but they already have blocked it 
to all but subscribers.
