So did "real world" people talk about it much
where you were? I was expecting/hoping that
there would be a lot of discussion here in
France, because it's still nominally a Catholic
country, but it just blew over in a couple of
days, with almost no repercussions. Maybe if
it had been a better film more people would've
seen it and talked about it, but the word went
out quick here that it was a turkey and the
flick wound up making very few waves.
I saw the movie a couple of times and loved it but looked at it as total fiction. As I recall it had been completely debunked before it ever came out by television programs on numerous stations, repeatedly. I actually heard people laughing at times in the theaters. I actually felt bad for Tom Hanks at times. His acting at times just didn't have that conviction that he believed what he was saying at very crucial points in the movie. I guess what I really liked about the movie was that it was a murder mystery set in Europe.
