My Timex Sinclair had a membrane keyboard.  It was a
bit bigger than a mass-market-size paperback (the kind
supermarkets sell), about 10" x 6" x 2", and you
plugged it into a TV set.  No monitor of its own.

Late '70s sounds about right.
